Winifred “Winnie” McCain Canter, 93 went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 2, 2021. Winnie was born September 18, 1927, a daughter of the late George and Laura Blakeman McCain and was also preceded in death by her husband, Alonzo “Lonnie” Canter, and siblings, Ervin (Anne) McCain, Alfred (Doris) McCain, Louelle (Clyde) Pennington, Florence (Ross) Phillips and Garnet (Joe) Crouch.
Winifred McCain was married to Lonnie Canter for 72 years and was a long-time resident of Rosemount. She worked part-time at Herms Greenhouse and was a homemaker, a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was kind and loving, supportive to family and friends, loved having her family around and helping whenever she could. She canned green beans and froze corn off the cob for the whole family. They had a cherry tree for years and she would pit and freeze enough cherries for pies for most of the winter. She attended Rubyville Community Church and will be missed by all, but we will see her again one glad day.
She is survived by her son, Jeffrey (Denise) Canter; grandsons Richard Canter, Jared (Michelle) Canter, great-grandchildren, Nathan and Mia, “her daughter” Lacie Murray, and many nieces and nephews.
