A man in West Portsmouth contacted 911 to report his neighbor cutting his grass. There are no trespassing signs visible on the property, and the neighbor ignored them, said the caller.
The police report indicates that this problem has been ongoing for years. It was surveyed in 2010 by the property owner to determine the exact boundary. The line was determined to be correct and no changes were made to it.
The deputy returned to the offending neighbor after gathering this information. In his response, he said he was cutting the extra grass in order to protect himself from snakes.
The deputy informed the trespasser that he was on well-known property lines and that the sign prohibiting trespassing had real meaning.
