The man who’d like to be your next state senator has been charged with a crime again. He’s accused of shenanigans connected to the primary election.

David Uible is running against current Ohio Senator Dr. Terry Johnson in the Republican primary to represent District 14. The district is comprised of Scioto, Adams, Brown, Clermont, and part of Lawrence County.

Uible used to be a Clermont County Commissioner and head of the County’s Republican Party.

Back in 2018, Uible pleaded guilty to tampering with records in connection with a petition submitted to the Board of Elections that had signatures added after the petition was turned into the campaign office. Uible was disqualified from being re-elected as a county commissioner because of the petition irregularities. He is currently on probation after being sentenced in December of 2019.

The new charges allege that Uible, 59, of Ohio Township, sent out campaign material to the residents of Clermont County with ‘Paid for by the Clermont County Republican Party, Greg Simpson, Chairman’ printed on them.

Greg Simpson, who is indeed the Chairman of the Clermont County Republican Party, filed a report. He says he did not authorize the mailing of any flyers and that the Republican Party did not play for them.

The Clermont County Sheriff’s Office says Uible made false statements during the course of the investigation in an attempt to mislead the detective.

The detective later discovered that Uible had paid for the printing of the flyers.

Simpson was provided with all the necessary information to file a complaint with the Ohio Elections Commission.

Ubile was charged with falsification and obstructing official business. The Sheriff says Ubile will be issued a date to appear in Clermont Municipal Court once the warrants for the charges are served.

Ubile raises buffalo on his Vista Grand Ranch in Richmond. He recently posted a video on his Facebook page standing with a herd of buffalo and encouraging everyone to vote in the delayed primary election.

The deadline for submitting your absentee ballot is April 27th. If you’ve already voted for Ubile your vote is locked in.
