Violent Wreck in Portsmouth: Police Report Is In

Just after 11 p.m., on February 27th, emergency calls regarding a violent wreck in Portsmouth began to flood the 911 Center. Our social media was buzzing with speculation. However, we have reserved any speculative articles until the official crash report had been made available. We can now give you those details from that report.

A 2008 yellow Ford Mustang that was driven by Alexzander McNutt, 20, of Maysville Kentucky traveling westbound in the 2700 block of Gallia Street at an unknown rate of speed. For an unknown reason, the vehicle made a radical shift to the left of the roadway and went off an embankment from AutoZone. According to the report, the Mustang traveled 43 ft through the air and struck a parked vehicle at the Portsmouth Block Company.

The Mustang then spun around and hit the parked vehicle again. It continued to spin, hitting the parked vehicle a third time before coming to rest on the property of the Portsmouth Block Company.

In total, the crash covered a distance of 225 feet in an area marked for a 35 mph speed limit. There is no way to prove the exact speed of the Mustang before the crash.

The police report gives this sequence of events. #1) The vehicle ran off the road to the left.  #2)Struck a curb then #3)embankment and #4)striking a parked motor vehicle.

The driver was wearing his seatbelt. The report states, he was not distracted, drunk, or on drugs.

McNutt sustained serious injuries and was taken by Portsmouth Ambulance to Southern Ohio Medical Center.

Along with the driver, there were four other occupants in the vehicle. A male teenager, from Tollesboro Kentucky, was partially ejected from the car. He sustained serious injuries and was transported via Air Evac to Cabell Huntington Hospital. Another teenage male, from Maysville Kentucky, had serious injuries and was transported by Portsmouth Ambulance to Southern Ohio Medical Center.

The third injured passenger was a teenage female from Garrison, Kentucky. She also had serious injuries and was taken by the Portsmouth Fire Department to Southern Ohio Medical Center. The final occupant was 18-year old Keyariua Bluford of Mayslick Kentucky. Miss Bluford also sustained serious injuries and was transported by the Portsmouth Fire Department to Southern Ohio Medical Center.

The exact injuries and current condition of the driver and his passengers are unknown at this time.

The Portsmouth Police Department was the main reporting agency. The scene was finally cleared, after investigation and clean up, at 2:06 a.m.
