Threatened With A Gun On Gallia

Portsmouth, Ohio Police responded to a report of a threat with a gun on Gallia, a Cinderella car in the street, and a man living in an empty church. We break down the highlights.

Pinky Took My Check

Just after midnight, officers answered a call to Washington Street for a report of a suspicious person. A woman claimed someone named ‘Pinky’ stole her $5,000 military insurance check. Officers said she wasn’t making a great deal of sense.

Threatened With A Gun?

A Gallia Street caller told police a neighbor pulled a gun on a woman at 12:34 am.  The woman said she was in an alley with two other people and a man pulled a gun and told her to get off his property.

The man told police he never pulled a gun he just ran the group off his property. Police noted they were in his driveway and not an alley.

Under The Influence

  • Officers responded to 11th Street just after 1 am. A  man was passed out in the entryway of an apartment building.  He advised police he was sitting next to the heater to stay warm. Police advised him to leave the property.
  • Police responded to an overdose on 3rd Street just before 4 am.
  • A 17th Street caller reported a man staggering down the street just before 3 pm. Police. took him into custody.
  • Officers answered a call to the Jim Dandy on Gallia Street for a report of an apparently high man sitting on a bench. Officers could not locate him.

Pickling My Car

At 1:09 am, a Gallia Street caller reported three men in dark clothing poured pickle juice on his car. He saw them head east on Farney.

Meanwhile at Speedway

  • Police answered a call about a man causing a problem outside the Speedway on Gallia at 1:38 am. They called a taxi for the man.
  • An hour later, he was back at Speedway but left before police arrived.


    An Ambulance Is Not A Taxi

    At 2:10 am, an employee at the BP on Gallia Street reported a customer who claimed to be experiencing a seizure.  The employee called an ambulance but the man refused treatment. There was no seizure. He just wanted a ride. Officers informed him he cannot use an ambulance as a taxi.

    Unwanted Visitor

    A woman told police a man in a black hoodie was in her Thomas Avenue Apartment when she arrived home. She said he threatened her and she left. She asked the police to remove the man from her apartment.

    Out in the Road

    Just before 3:30 am, a caller reported a woman in the middle of Gallia Street. Police advised her to stay out of the road.

    I’ve Fallen and I Can’t Get Up

    • First responders were called to Campbell Avenue at 4:25 am for a report of a man who fell.
    • Police answered a similar call to the Scioto Trail at 5:42 am. This time, a man who just got out of the hospital fell and couldn’t get up.

    Breaking and Entering

    Officers received a report of a break-in on Broadway Street just after 6 am.  A caller reported seeing people go in the front door of a vacant house.

    Officers found the door open and took at least one person into custody.

    Stay Out Of My Trash

    A 5th Street caller wanted an officer to talk to a neighbor about putting things in her trashcan just before 10 am. Police advised her it was a civil issue.

    Living In Church

    Officers answered a call to 12th Street church for a report of a person possibly living inside. The church has not been used for several months.

    Police found a space heater, medication, and other evidence that someone is living there. They impounded the medication and said they would attempt to locate the man whose name was on the bottles.

    Kids Behaving Badly

    Officers were called to 20th Street just after 2 pm for a report of kids attempting to get into a home to beat up a 14-year-old boy who was home alone. Police spoke to the kids.

    Cinderella In The Street

    Officers responded to Mabert Road just after 2:30 pm for a report of small children riding a Cinderella car in the middle of the street.  Officers could not locate them. It’s unknown if the car turned into a pumpkin.

    Child Bit By Dog

    A dog bit a child on 4th Street just before 4 pm. Animal control contacted the owner. An officer advised she will issue a citation on Monday. Animal control ordered her to quarantine the dog for 10 days. She should then voluntarily surrender the animal or arrange for a new home.

    Up On The Rooftop

    Police answered a call to Findlay Street for a report of three kids on the roof of the Alexandria House Apartments.

    Police found no kids on the roof or in the elevator shaft.
