Teen’s Social Media Rant Causes Panic
ShareTweetEmail

An intoxicated man ticked off his girlfriend by bleeding all over her clothes and a teen’s social media rant prompts a welfare check. We break down the Portsmouth Police Chief’s Daily Briefing.

Unwanted Visitors

Just before 11 pm, a caller complained that there were individuals inside a condemned property on Summit Street who had pulled the wood off the boarded-up back door again.

Three minutes later the complainant called back to find out why police hadn’t arrived on the scene. Officers arrived on the scene at 11:18 p. There did not appear to be anyone inside the home, but the wood had been pulled off the door. However, the door was still locked.

The officer advised the caller to contact them if there was any more suspicious activity.

Suspicious Activity

A Buckley Avenue caller reported a man acting strangely at 9 pm. The caller said a man parked a maroon vehicle with no tags in front of his house and then walked to the Dollar Store twice without making a purchase. The man also circled the area several times. He left before the police arrived.

Teen’s Social Media Rant Causes Panic

A worried friend asked officers to check on a teenager after the 18-year-old posted threats of self-harm on social media just before midnight.

When officers arrived at the girl’s home, she was asleep. Her parents agreed to wake her up so the police could speak to her. She said she was ranting about a guy she has issues with at school but did not threaten self-harm.

Her parents said they would investigate further and seek appropriate mental health assistance.

Drunken Accident Causes Bloody Mess

A Market Street caller reported screaming coming from an apartment just before 1 am.  It turned out an intoxicated man was bleeding heavily from his thumb and got into an argument with his girlfriend because he was bleeding all over her clothes.

Officers advised them to stay away from each other, but the man refused to leave the apartment.

Hey! That’s My Stuff

A woman contacted police just before 3 am to report her boyfriend’s father stole her purse. She said she would meet police outside Hudson House on 5th Street. An officer checked all around the building 10 minutes later, but could not locate her.

Not So Neighborly

A Kendall Avenue caller said a neighbor threatened to beat her up at 7:44 am. She said it all started with a verbal argument with the neighbor’s teenage daughter at the bus station. The teen’s parents then threatened to beat her up.

Officers spoke to the 18-year-old girl and her family and all agreed there would be no more problems at the bus stop.
