The state keeps county in dark about plans for golf course land
“It’s frustrating.” Scioto County Commissioner Bryan Davis says the lack of communication from the State of Ohio regarding the former Shawnee State Golf Course is a pretty hard pill to swallow and he’s tired of being kept in the dark about plans for the land.
ODNR said they don’t plan to sell the land and several ideas have been floated about how to repurpose it.
Davis says Scioto County has been left out of the look about those plans. He said he was told at a meeting with state officials at Shawnee Lodge that they were going back to potentially review a compromise and that the state would get back to the county. But so far the county has heard nothing.
“I contacted them and said ‘What is going on?’ We need correspondence from the state. They need to step up and communicate effectively. I made that clear on Saturday.”
He says he was told that there would be a response this week, but noted, “It’s Thursday.”
