Deputies responded to a Bloom Furnace Road home after a man made an extremely unfunny joke on the Snapchat social media app.

The man sent a photo to a friend showing him with a pill bottle in his mouth and his head tilted back. The caption read, “Bottle number two, goodbye.”

Officers went to the home where the man was reportedly living. He was not there, but a friend said he was out of town.

Police spoke with the man. He said he was attempting to make a joke. Deputies confirmed the man was indeed out of town and seemed fine.

Shots Reported In Otway

An Otway woman contacted the Scioto County Sheriff’s Office just before 2 am to report hearing 10 to 12 gunshots on Rarden-Hazelbaker Road. She suspected the shote came from a nearby trailer which she claimed is a known hub of drug activity.

Officers headed out to the scene and attempted to contact individuals in the area without any luck. However, they said there was no evidence of any problems in the area.

Neighbors Complain of Scrappers on Kentland

A concerned citizen flagged down an officer at 4 am to complain about two people wandering in the area, pulling a wheeled cart near homes.

Officers caught up with two people in the alley between Kentland and Auburn. The pair were pulling a car behind them.

They explained they were scrapping in trash cans in the alley. The two told police they were careful to stay in the alley, were not going on private property, and would replace trash in the cans once they were finished.

Officers advised them of the complaint and let them go on about their business.
