Portsmouth Police Reports: Child in Danger

Saturday’s Portsmouth, Ohio Police calls included a man kidnapped at scissor-point, a guy hiding out in the Speedway parking bathroom, and 50 unwanted guests in the Kroger parking lot. We break it all down in these next 10 slides.

Suspicious Behavior

  • A Franklin Avenue Caller reported a man looking through the bed of a truck with a light at 4:35 am. The man was just getting an early start on a painting job.
  • A few minutes later, a Jackson Avenue caller reported people breaking glass in the alley. Officers couldn’t locate the suspects but they moved the glass out of the alley.
  • Police responded to a call of a man dancing in the middle of 8th Street with a buggy just after 6 am. They served him with a warrant from New Boston.
  • A caller reported a man with a bloody face wondering around by Morton’s Rx.  Police checked at 8 am but could not find him.

Under The Influence

  • Officers responded to a report of an OD in a Gallia Street bathroom just after 7 am. The woman refused medical help.
  • Police responded to 17th Street just after 8:30 pm for a report of an apparently high man lying on the ground. Police discovered the man had a warrant with NBPD. They took him to jail.

Move Along

A lawn service called police just after 8 am for some help. A man had set up camp in the middle of a lot they needed to mow. An office advised him to move along.

Trapped In The Bathroom

Police answered a call from a man hiding out in the restroom of the Speedway just before 11 am. He said he was afraid to leave because there was a man outside who had threatened to kill him.

Tree Attack

A woman called police at 1:14 pm to report a broken tree at 6th and Chillicothe. She told police she is on the shade tree commissioner and that the trees cost $250. Police said they would keep an eye on the trees during bar hours.

Crimes Against Kids

Just before 5:30 pm, PPD got a call from a man who said he’s part of a group that monitors crimes against kids online. He reported that a man was live streaming and engaging in a sexual discussion with juveniles. He said he had dates and times to prove it.

However, the person he said was involved moved out of the area in July to Columbus. Police suggested he contact authorities there.

Whole Lot Of Shaking

A woman called police at 8:30 pm to report she was blocked in the Kroger parking lot by a Jeep. She said several people were on top of the Jeep shaking it.

An officer met with the Kroger manager. There were 50 or more people on the lot, some sitting in lawn chairs. Police said they were all obviously kids and not store patrons.

The manager walked through the parking lot with an officer and pointed out vehicles and people who needed to leave the property. The office advised them all to leave or risk being arrested.

Hey, That’s My Stuff!

  • Police responded to 20th Street at 7:41 pm for a report of a stolen sofa.
  • A man called police at 9:30 pm to report is brother had stolen several items including a Toyota Camry, guns, Xbox, Playstation, and jewelry. Police found the man and he did allow them to search his residence. Police didn’t found any of the items.
  • Just before 10 pm, a man reported his wallet and AirPods stolen. Police took information for a report.

Can’t We All Just Get Along?

  • A Summit Street caller reported a man beating her windows with a metal bat just after 11 pm. Officers took information for a report.
  • Police answered a call to the Party Time Bar for a report of a man and woman fighting at 11:12 pm. The officer took information for a report.

Kidnapping With Scissors

Just before 11:30 pm, police responded to a call from Mabert Road. The caller said they saw a man abducted. He said two men held scissors to the guy’s throat, forced him into a white car, and headed towards New Boston.

New Boston Police said they were dealing with a similar complaint at Gallia and Buch. Police took information for a report.
