Different Stories

Officers heard two different stories after they responded to a disturbance on Dewey Avenue just after midnight.

A man told police that the girlfriend he has a protection order against came to his house with her new boyfriend. He claimed the pair then got in his face in an aggressive manner and he swung on the man to defend himself.

The girlfriend said she and her friend were just walking past the man’s house and he jumped the new boyfriend. Neither side wanted to file a report.

  • Just after 5 am, police answered a domestic call on 8th Street. The parties weren’t afraid of each other, just mad. Both wanted the other person to leave the house.
  • Police were called to 18th Street at 8:27 am for an assault report. A woman said the passenger in the car she was driving, spilled a drink and then hit her arm with the back of his hand. Officers said there were no signs of injuries and she did not want to file a report.
  • When police answered a domestic call at 8:30 am on 6th Street, they found a broken flowerpot and cereal spilled on the front porch. However, the couple at the scene said everything was fine. The woman was having medical issues but refused an ambulance. Police said her refusal to seek treatment had prompted the argument in the first place.
  •  Just after 4:30 pm, officers responded to a woman’s report that her ex-husband had harassed her at work. She also claimed he drove by her home. Officers advised her to file a TPO.
