Pit Bulls Charge Kids On High Street

Loose pit bulls charge several kids on High Street and police respond to another report of a jumper on the Grant Bridge. We break down the highlights of the Portsmouth Police Chief’s Daily Briefing.

No Room At The Inn

Just before 3 am, an employee of the Holiday Inn asked officers to remove some guests for violating the hotel’s noise police.

Portsmouth Police Reports: Child in Danger

The two women were afraid to walk home in the dark, so an officer gave them a ride.

Police stood by while two other women waited for a cab to take them to the Comfort Inn.

Officers took one of the guests into custody.

Under The Influence

  • At 3:28 am, a 14th Street caller reported a man hit a parked car, and there appeared to be ‘something wrong with him.” Officers responded to the scene and took the man into custody.
  • A Harrison Street Caller reported people using drugs in a van parked behind his residence. Police took a man into custody and transported him to the Scioto County Jail.

Meanwhile at the Royal Inn

Police responded to the Royal Inn on Kendall Avenue at 10:27 am for a dispute between the management and a guest about damage to a door.

The manager agreed to allow the guest to stay if he came up with the money for one more night. Police could not determine who caused the door damage.

Pit Bulls Charge Kids

Just before noon, police answered a report of loose pit bulls chasing kids on their bicycles and then charging their father.

Just a minute later, a Highland Avenue caller reported pit bulls chasing her. She said the dogs belonged to her neighbors.

Police located the animals in their owner’s backyard. The owner took the animals inside and police advised her to secure them.

Dine And Dash

Officers responded to Sonora Mexican Grill at 1:32 pm for a report of a woman at the bar who refused to pay for her food.

She walked outside and began to check car doors. Police found her at the bar and suggested she call someone to pay for her food. She could not reach anyone.

Officers took her into custody and issued a summons for theft before releasing her.

Hey! That’s My Stuff

  • Police responded to the Dollar General on Harding at 3 pm to pick up a list of items taken from the store the day before.
  • A woman contacted police to report a burglary at 3:06 pm. Someone kicked in the front door of her Broadway Street home and stole shoes and pants.  The woman said she knew who took the items because she saw him wearing them.  Police took him into custody and took him to jail.

Laundromat Lurker

Just before 9 pm, officers responded to a report of a masked man in an orange shirt lurking near the laundromat on Wayne Avenue.

Police told the man that if he’s not a resident of Wayne Hills with a key card, he can’t get into the laundromat.

He gathered his items and left

Trashy Behavior

A Linden Avenue caller reported a woman throwing trash and arguing with the residents of a home. The resident said the woman hit her and spit on her when she went to move her trash cans.

Cry For Help

At 11:35 pm, a man called the police with concerns his brother planned to jump off the Grant Bridge.

Officers checked around and under the bridge and did not see anyone.
