Paul William Moore, Sr. of South Webster

October 24, 1931 ~ January 25, 2020 (age 88)

Paul William Moore, Sr., age 88, of South Webster, went to be with the Lord January 25, 2020, at Holzer Hospital in Jackson. He was born on October 24, 1931, in South Webster to Clifford Ray and Thelma (Allen) Moore.

He graduated from South Webster High School in 1949 then joined the U.S. Army where he served three years in Korea. He was a tank commander and was discharged honorably as a Sergeant First Class. While in the Army, he loved boxing and playing baseball. Paul then worked as a heavy equipment mechanic for Empire Detroit Steel as a member of the Steelworker’s Local #2116 until his retirement in 1994. He was a member of Hamilton Glades Freewill Baptist Church in Minford and loved hunting and fishing.

Paul is survived by one son, Paul (Robin) Moore, Jr. of South Webster; four grandchildren, Erica (Marcus) Moore-Fraley of Portsmouth, Dakota Moore of South Webster, Michael Moore, Jr. of South Webster, Rodney (Jody) Moore of West Portsmouth; eight great-grandchildren, Savannah and Bristol Stickley, Lakin, Rodney, Emily, Riley, Brittany, and Dillon Moore; sister-in-law, Shelby Moore of South Webster.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Helen; son, Michael Ray Moore and his wife, Vivian; granddaughter, Helen L. Moore; great-grandson, Wyatt Moore; brothers, Clifford Ray Moore, Jr. and his wife, Opal, Roy Wilbur Moore; sister, Darlene Mae Clagg and her husband, Calvin.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 30, 2020, at D.W. SWICK-NELSON FUNERAL HOME in South Webster with Pastor Mike Simpson officiating. Interment will follow at Jackson Furnace Cemetery. Friends may call on Wednesday from 5 – 7 at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service on Thursday. Fond memories of Paul and expressions of condolence may be shared at D.W. SWICK-NELSON FUNERAL HOME in South Webster.
