In celebration of National Catholic Schools Week, students from Notre Dame Elementary School in Portsmouth took time out to say thank you to the first responders who help keep them safe by dropping off a special treat.
They visited local police departments, fire departments, and even stopped by hospitals with treat bags tied in blue ribbons to represent the school colors.
The snack bags were labeled with a quote from the Bible. John 15:13. “No greater love has no one than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.”
The first responders were very happy to receive the treat bags. Portsmouth Police Department thanked them for their thoughtfulness. Both the Portsmouth PD and the Scioto County Sheriff’s Office thanked them.
The folks at King’s Daughters Medical Center said, “Thank you to the faculty and students from Notre Dame Elementary! For Catholic Schools Week they brought treat bags to the Hospital today for team members as a way of saying thank you to those who serve and save lives every day. Team members throughout the hospital including doctors, nurses, respiratory therapists, and support staff enjoyed the treats! It’s truly a team effort for the great quality care we provide our community. Your kind gifts are very much appreciated!”
Catholic schools week runs January 26 through February 1.
