Needles Seized After Two Women OD at Spartan Stadium

Police seized needles after two women overdosed at Spartan Stadium and officers TASER a man after an argument. We hit the highlights of the Portsmouth Police Chief’s Daily Briefing. 

Man TASERED After Argument With Girlfriend

Just before 6 am, a Sycamore Street caller told police she’d been arguing with her boyfriend and he’d threatened to destroy her property.

When officers arrived on the scene, they deployed a TASER on the man. Police discovered he had an open warrant and took him into custody.

Gun Threats on Grandview

A Grandview Avenue caller contacted officers at 6:26 am to report a man and a woman yelling at each other. They said someone screamed something about a gun.

A man also called and claimed a woman was beating on his door and yelling. He told officers his former girlfriend was making false claims about domestic violence.

The woman left before the police arrived. The man did not want to press charges. 

Suspicious Activity

  • Just before 8 am, JJ’s Convenient Mart reported a man on his knees near the drive-thru. Officers spoke to the man who said he was looking for change. Police advised him to move along. 
  • Officers picked up a troubled man known for aggressive panhandling on Gallia just before 11 am for an open warrant. They transported him to the Scioto County Jail. 

Hair Salon Theft

At 12:34 pm, police responded to the Heads Up Hair Salon for a report of a theft. The salon reported that an employee who had quit came back in to pick up her belongings and stole customer files while she was there. Police took information for a report.

Strange Situation

Just after 9 pm, a caller reported a strange situation at a Gatti’s Pizza. He claimed he knocked on the door to ask if someone knew where 3rd Street was. 

He said a man and woman came to the door and told him they didn’t know how to find 3rd Street. He said the woman seemed uncomfortable and the man was doing all the talking. 

As the pair left he said he asked the woman if she wanted him to call the police. He said she gave him a ‘thumbs up’ signal. Both people were wearing Gatti’s uniforms. The people left the scene before the man called the police.

Needles Confiscated After Overdose at Spartan Stadium

Just after midnight, police responded to a report of two unresponsive women, slumped over the wheel of a vehicle at Spartan Stadium.

When the women did not respond to an officer pounding on the vehicle, he advised them he planned to bust out the windows, however, he was able to get into the vehicle.

Officers discovered multiple hypodermic needles at the scene and took both women into custody.
