Landlord Sniffs Out Meth on Mabert Road

Officers dealt with a reported meth stench on Mabert Road and multiple people breaking into vacant homes. We break down the Portsmouth Police Chief’s Daily Briefing. 

Troubled Woman Threatens To Harm Self

Police were contacted by mental health professionals after a troubled woman with whom they have nearly daily contact threatened to harm herself.

Counselors said she was arguing with her on-again-off-again boyfriend and threatened to harm herself before hanging up.

She had left the scene before police arrived. 

Police caught up with her at her home ten minutes later. She assured them she did not want to harm herself.

Domestic Disturbance

A mom contacted police just before noon to report her adult daughter had pushed her down. She didn’t want to press charges but did want the daughter to leave the house.

Officers advised her on the eviction process.

Doggie Dispute on Eunice Avenue

A Eunice Avenue neighbor called police to complain about a neighbor trespassing on their property. The caller said it was an ongoing issue involving a dispute over dogs.

Police advised the neighbors to stay off the caller’s property. 

Breaking and Entering

A man contacted police at 3:30 pm to report suspicious activity at a condemned home belonging to his father on Walnut Street. He said he went to check the home and discovered the padlock was torn off and the door open. Police walked through the home but found no one inside. 

A Boundary Street caller spotted people inside a condemned home at 5:13 PM. Police took one man into custody and dropped him off at the jail. 

Kids Trespassing in Vacant Home

A 15th Street caller reported neighborhood kids trespassing inside a vacant home that is due to have renters move in soon. 

Officers spoke to the mother of the children and she said she would deal with them. 

What’s That Smell?

A Mabert Road landlord told police she stopped by one of her properties to collect rent money and could smell a heavy scent of meth.  The landlord was unsure if meth was being cooked there. She also claimed to have witnessed a drug deal.

Police did not smell meth in the area, so they had no cause to enter the home. They advised her to schedule an inspection and have an officer accompany her.
