Kids ran wild at the movie theater, and bar fights kept officers busy. We break down the Portsmouth Police Chief’s Daily Briefing.
Kids Run Wild at Portsmouth Cinema
Some misbehaving kids caused a big ruckus at the Portsmouth Cinema. Just after 11 pm, an employee contacted police to report the theater kicked out some misbehaving kids.
Employees said the kids then climbed on top of a man’s car. They did not damage his vehicle, but he wished to speak to the police.
The kids wrote obscenities on the man’s windshield. Witnesses had the license plate number for the vehicle the kids left in, so officers were able to track them down at a Mound Street address and speak to them and their mother.
They claimed another female juvenile had caused all the problems, but they did not know her name or where she lived.
Bad Behavior on Gallia Street
Just after midnight, a driver reported some kids pushed a cart into the middle of the road near Vern Riffe School, and she hit the cart.
The caller said she damaged her vehicle in the incident. She parked at the BP to wait for an officer. Police took information for a report.
Bar Fights Break Out
Witnesses reported a group of people fighting at the Party Time Bar just before 1 am. The witness said they heard someone mention a gun. When officers arrived on the scene, they broke things up and took information for a report.
An hour later, police responded to a report of two women fighting in the parking lot at Richard Noggins. An officer arrested a woman for disorderly conduct.
Missing Nephew
A worried aunt contacted officers at 1 pm to report she’d not seen her nephew since December.
She told police the 34-year-old man had a severe drug problem.
Man Saved From Suicide Attempt
A woman contacted officers at 1:12 pm to report a man tried to hang himself. She managed to cut him down, and he was breathing on his own.
Under The Influence
At 9 pm, a caller reported a dark car stopped close to the tracks on Gallia. The driver refused a sobriety test. Police had the vehicle towed and took him into custody.
At 9:30 pm, officers responded to a report of an overdose on Charles Street. The subject refused treatment.
Suspicious Activity
A troubled homeless woman, whom police have frequent contact with, was once again the subject of a call at 4 am.
A Gallia Street man reported she was outside his home yelling. He said she woke him up and wanted to stay at the home, but he did not want her there.
Officers advised her to leave.
