James White, 73, of Minford

James David White, 73, of Minford, passed away Saturday, May 8, 2021, at Adena Medical Center in Chillicothe with his family by his side. He was born August 27, 1947, in Portsmouth, a son of the late Martha Christine (Conley) and James Beecher White.

Jim retired from AEP after 40 years of service as a lineman. He was of the Baptist faith and a 1965 Minford High School graduate. A proud Life Member of the NRA, he was an avid fisherman and hunter, having nearly gone pro on the bass fishing circuit. He also loved sports such as boxing and UK basketball, but his favorite team was the OSU Buckeyes.

Preceding him in death on January 8, 2021, was his wife of 41 years, Peggy Ann Manchester White. The couple was married in Pearisburg, VA on May 19, 1979.

Surviving is his son, Dale Allen White of Londonderry; two daughters, Jamie Ann (Dale) McWhorter of Londonderry and Staci Jo (Ryan) Anderson of McDermott; one brother, Steve (Rosemarie) White of Mt. Sterling, OH; five grandchildren, Jarrett and Kaidyn McWhorter, and Rylee, Braylee and Luke Anderson; best friends, Don Noel, Larry Rousch, and Ted Birkhimer; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and their families.

In addition to his parents and wife, Jim was also preceded in death by a brother, Randy White; and a best friend, Jerry Ginn.

Funeral services will be held at 1 P.M. Thursday at the Ralph F. Scott Funeral Home in Portsmouth with Rev. Don Noel officiating and interment in Scioto Burial Park.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 11 A.M. until the funeral hour. Masks are required for attendance and will not be provided.
