Ethel Mae Buckner, 77, of Portsmouth, passed away Monday, January 24, 2022, at Southern Ohio Medical Center. She was born June 26, 1944 in Rock Hill, SC, a daughter of the late Arthur Forrest and Lillie Mae Avery Johnson.
A homemaker, Ethel graduated from Portsmouth High School. She was a member and former usher at Beulah Baptist Church.
Her husband, Irvin James Buckner, Jr., preceded her in death. The couple was married in 1975 in Dayton.
Surviving Ethel is her daughter, Elyse R. Buckner, with whom she made her home; three siblings, Frances Anderson of Portsmouth, Vernon (Creola) Johnson of Columbus and Patricia Johnson of Worthington; and a host of nieces, nephews and their families.
Ethel was also preceded in death by two brothers, Benny and Arthur Johnson.
Funeral services will be held at 1 P.M. Saturday at the Ralph F. Scott Funeral Home in Portsmouth with Rev. Richard Jordan officiating.
The family will receive friends from 11 A.M until the funeral hour Saturday at the funeral home.
Interment will be in Scioto Burial Park at a later date.
