Problems at the Bus Stop
Just before 3 pm, officers responded to 17th Street and Thomas Avenue for a report of a disturbance between parents and students at the bus stop.
The caller asked officers to make their presence known to discourage problems. The group dispersed before police arrived.
Grand Theft Auto
A Kendall Avenue caller contacted police at 4:40 pm to report her 2007 vehicle stolen.
An officer took information for a report.
Whose Store Is It Anyway?
Police responded to an 11th Street business to report a disturbance between two individuals who both claim to own a store.
One caller said he was the vendor/owner, and a woman would not let him take his property from the location. A woman in the background of the call claimed she was the owner.
Police determined it was a civil dispute. The woman who owned the building wanted him to leave and not come back. Police advised them on the proper procedure for settling the matter.
Hey, That’s My stuff
At 5 pm, a man contacted officers to report a stolen laptop. Police took information for a report.
Kids Taken From Mom on Drugs
A caseworker from Scioto County Children Services requested police help to deal with a volatile situation at 6 pm. The caseworker said a mom was on drugs but refused to take a drug test.
While the officer was on the scene, the caseworker was able to reason with the mom. Then, the children’s father came to collect them. CPS accompanied him and the children to his residence.
Man Threatens Dad
A man contacted police at 7 pm to report his son tore up his door and made threats against him.
The two calmed down before police arrived, and the son left the premises.
Meanwhile at the Post Office
Once again, officers responded to a call of people sleeping in the lobby of the post office.
They spoke to a homeless woman they have nearly daily contact with and advised her and several other homeless people to leave.
Child Shot With BB on Vinton Avenue
Yet another report of an assault with a BB gun, this time a child on Vinton Avenue walking home from school.
His mother said he was shot in the face, but the BB didn’t penetrate the skin. However, the child had a large bruise. He described the shooter as riding in a white sedan.
Dog Attack Fallout
Police responded to Woodland Avenue at 10 pm to report an incident related to a dog attacking a child earlier in the week.
The dog owner complained that people posted images of him and his home on Facebook and criticized him over the incident.
Officers advised him that people are permitted to take pictures from public areas and that the injured child’s parents were not responsible for other posts.
Officers advised him to report anything he felt went against Facebook standards to the company.
Intoxicated Stepdad Assaults Teen
A teenage boy contacted police at 4 am to report his stepfather was very drunk and fighting with his mother.
When police arrived on the scene, the woman said she wasn’t injured and did not want to press charges. However, the boy had injuries to his nose and eyes.
Police said they would press charges on the child’s behalf. They took the man into custody.
