Desperate Man Flees Group Home COVID Quarantine
ShareTweetEmail

COVID quarantine proved to be too much for a group home resident. He fled the home just after 8:30 am, but not before threatening to harm himself. Management at the group home did not know if he had any weapons on him.

Police took a description, and an officer spotted him around 8:45 on Gallia Street and detained him until Portsmouth Fire Department Medics arrived and transported him to Southern Ohio Medical Center for treatment.

Burglars Hit Gallia Street Businesses

Portsmouth Police Officers responded after a report that burglars hit two Gallia Street businesses. Officers hoped that either the Sidetrack Bar & Grill or Hurley’s Garage had security cameras that captured the crooks in action.

Stolen Jeep Found Stripped on Clinton Furnace Road

Deputies discovered the location of a stolen Jeep after a woman reported her son had discovered an abandoned, stripped Jeep in a wooded section of a field near Clinton Furnace Road.

Her son assisted officers in locating the vehicle, which did come back reported as stolen. Deputies spoke to the owner, who said her insurance company had already paid for the vehicle.

Officers said the area was extremely muddy, and it was impossible for a towing company to get back there to get to the vehicle. Police said they would have to wait until the area dried out to attempt to retrieve the remains of the vehicle.
