CPS Worker Threatened By Angry Parent

Portsmouth Police responded to a report of threats against a CPS worker and a quick-thinking cousin saves a relative from an overdose. We break down the Portsmouth Police Chief’s Daily Briefing. 

Suspicious Activity

  • Just before 2:30 pm, police responded to a report of a man slumped over a wheel for more than an hour on Summit Street.  When police arrived on the scene, he seemed fine. Officers advised him not to drive the vehicle since his license was suspended. He contacted the vehicle owner to pick it up. 
  • A witness reported a woman wandering into traffic while pushing a shopping cart in front of the public library at 3:30 pm. Officers said she was indeed walking in the street but seemed to be okay. They advised her of the complaint. 

CPS Worker Threatened

An employee of Children Services contacted police to report a threat from a parent. 

She said she’d removed a child from the home and that a parent had been making indirect third-party threats against her.

Police advised her to avoid the threatening parent and contact them if more threats were made.

Domestic Disturbance

Police got involved in a domestic situation after 911 lost a call. When they arrived at a High Street home, a feuding couple advised police the argument was verbal only.

Police noted the woman was highly intoxicated. She said her mother was on the way to the residence to pick her and her kids up. Officers advised everyone involved to behave.

Wrong-Way Driver

Police stopped a vehicle going the wrong way on Chillicothe Street at 11:41 pm. An officer went to the driver’s home to pick up his wife and bring her back to the vehicle. 

She picked up the car and drove her husband home. Police issued a warning to the driver.

Cousin Saves Man After Overdose

A quick-thinking cousin saved the life of a man after he overdosed in a vehicle on Argonne Road.

The cousin administered Narcan and performed CPR to bring him back. 

The revived man refused any further medical assistance and police released him into the care of his cousin.

Big Barking

At 1 am, a caller reported Great Danes barking in a backyard on 18th Street. The caller said the dogs never bark and she feared the owner had left them outside in the cold. 

Police advised the owner about the complaint, and he put the dogs back into the house.
