We were told that players and coaches received a telephone call from Superintendent Todd Jenkins. However, when we asked for a written letter, multiple parents stated there was none. We contacted Scioto County EMA Director Larry Mullins, he stated that his office was not aware of the situation.

According to the parents, this affects the High School boy’s soccer team.

Upon checking the School’s website, we see this message front and center.

Back to School Update for all Students:
You can expect a telephone call on Monday, August 17, 2020, from a Northwest teacher letting you know your child’s schedule for their “in-person” days at school. If you are an “online” only student you will also receive a phone call letting you know when to report to pick up books and materials for online learning. If you have any questions, contact your school principal.

In addition, they direct you to read a statement from the Scioto County Ohio Health Commissioner, Dr. Michael E. Martin dated 07/27/2020. You can read that here.

Concerned parents from the school, staff members, coaches, and students from other schools are all expressing anxiety over the matter. It seems the “grapevine” is talking, but officials are not.

We will update this story as we can.

Update:

While officials remain silent on the issue. More parents are speaking out to help the public understand the issue. Here’s a recent quote.

“A soccer coach tested positive. The Superintendant called the boys on the soccer team and told them to quarantine for 14 days. The boy’s assistant coach is also the girl’s assistant coach and guidance counselor at the high school. The boy’s soccer team has members that also play football, golf and are in the band. And many parents who are teachers in all the buildings. The boys’ soccer team is the only ones who have been told to quarantine.”
