Police responded to a report of a disabled woman living in an apartment with COVID, lice, and bedbugs, and a rehab worker was reported for threatening to take away a patient’s Mountain Dew. We hit the highlights of the Portsmouth Police Chief’s Daily Briefing.
Suspicious Activity
Just after midnight, a resident of the 16th Street apartments reported people lying on the floor in the basement highway. The subjects left before officers arrived.
A man contacted officers at 12:28 am to say he was locked in a room on the 7th floor of Alexandria House. A representative of Alexandria House said the man was currently in a local nursing home. When police contacted the nursing facility they said the man was fine but confused as to where he was.
A Robinson Avenue caller reported 2 men on their back porch at 4 am. Four units responded to the scene. The men left before the police arrived.
Waller Street Stabbing
At 2:30 am, a woman called the police to report a man in a red hoodie trying to stab her boyfriend. Police and an ambulance were dispatched to the scene.
The ambulance transported a victim to the hospital where police took a statement from the victim. Officers took a suspect into custody.
Cops Called When Rehab Patients Pop Privileges Threatened
A staff member from a local rehab facility contacted police at 9:37 am to report alleged verbal abuse of a patient by a staff member.
Apparently, the employee told the patient “You will not get your Diet Mountain Dew if you don’t stop your bad behavior.
According to the facility that fell under their verbal abuse policy and would be reported to the State of Ohio.
COVID, Lice, & Bed Bugs
Officers were asked to check in on a disabled woman, who a local agency said was living in deplorable conditions in a Kendall Avenue apartment. A caller advised the agency said the people in the apartment had COVID, lice, and bed bugs and that children were living in the apartment.
Police spoke with the woman, who said she was fine though her husband did have COVID.
Bad Dancer Reported to Police
At 11:22 am, a witness reported a man staggering around the area of 11th and Hutchins who appeared to be under the influence.
When officers spoke to the man, he appeared to be sober. He explained he was dancing and just not a good dancer.
