The kids took the vehicle from the Spears Funeral Home in Columbus but they didn’t get far, eventually crashing into a utility pole. Police say the hearse driver made about the biggest mistake a driver who doesn’t want to lose their vehicle can, leaving the keys in the ignition and the vehicle running. The body was recovered and returned to the funeral home.

The thieves didn’t go far and are lucky to be alive after hitting both another car and striking a utility pole. The kids ran away after the crash and no arrests have been made.

What’s even crazier is this isn’t the only hearse theft with a body inside this week. Someone driving a stolen hearse led the LAPD on a chase in Los Angeles. According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff, that body was missing overnight before police caught up with on the freeway and retrieved That time the suspect was arrested.
