Claude Whitt, Sr., 79, of Columbus

November 6, 1941 - January 26, 2021

Claude H. Whitt, Sr. 79, of Columbus, went to his heavenly home on Tuesday, January 26, 2021, with his family by his bedside.  Born on November 6, 1941, in Martin, KY, he was the son of the late Otis and Carrie Thornsberry Whitt.

Also preceding him in death were brothers James Whitt, Otis Whitt, Jr., and Larry Whitt; a brother-in-law, Duard Morman, and sister-in-law, Mary Alice Whitt.

Claude graduated from East High School and enlisted in the Marine Corps, having served during the Vietnam War.  He attended Columbus First Christian Baptist Church.  His greatest relaxation was being an avid fisherman, but his most important matters were his love of God and the love of his family.

Claude will be lovingly remembered by the love of his life, his wife of 57 years, Opal Ann Warren Whitt, his children, C. Harold (Sylvia) Whitt, Jr., Tammy Jo Whitt Smith, and Dreama (Jeff) Dickens, all of Columbus; brothers, Bill (Nancy) Whitt, Roger (Kathy) Whitt and Jerry (Marsha) Whitt and sisters, Brenda Morman, Linda (Lee) Pack and JoAnn Whitt; sisters-in-law, Judy Wiseman and Mary Whitt and his mother-in-law, Mary “Toots” Warren.  He also leaves behind best friends, Larry and Deloris Sayre, special family, the Armstrongs,  the Warren in-laws, along with several special nieces and nephews, and his cats Frisky and MoMo.

A service will be held at the convenience of the family with Dr. Jeremy Kamer officiating.  Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens under the direction of the BRANT FUNERAL SERVICE IN SCIOTOVILLE.
