Fugitive Hunt

A caller told police that a wanted man was hiding out at a 7th Street home. The resident gave police permission to search just before 9 am. According to the report, several large, aggressive dogs were in the home.

Police didn’t find the man they were searching for. The woman said he was a relative, but she’d thrown him out some time ago.

Angry Exes

At 11:23 am, a woman told police her boyfriend kicked in the front door of her Russell Avenue home and broke the bathroom door while attempting to leave the scene.

Officers caught up to him at 11th and Clay and detained him while they got his story. Police determined the homeowner gave the man permission to enter the home, and there was no verbal or physical altercation between the exes.

Officers advised the woman to obtain a protection order if she did not want him in the house.

Domestic Violence

A man contacted police at 1:19 pm and reported a friend sent him a message saying that a man beat her and took her child. She said the man had a gun on him.

Police went to the home and took a man into custody.

Wanted Woman

A caller contacted PPD at 2:25 to report a woman with an open warrant was following her in a vehicle. Police caught up with the woman on Offnere Street and took her into custody on an open warrant.

Officers took her to jail, where she was booked for driving under a suspended license. She was immediately released on her own recognizance.

Medics Check Baby after Crash on Gallia

Medics were called to the scene of a 3-vehicle crash on Gallie Street near Burger King just before 4 pm.

Officers wanted them to check the condition of a baby in one of the cars. A tow truck took a damaged vehicle away, and officers took information for a report.

Under the Influence

A Jackson Avenue caller reported a shiftless man who appeared to be on drugs walking around while hitting himself. Police took the man into custody.

Just before 6 pm, a caller reported a heavily intoxicated older man wandering around near the Esplanade Gift Shop on Gallia. An ambulance transported the man to the hospital for treatment.

At 11 pm, a caller spotted a woman stumbling around on 7th Street. An officer spoke to the woman, who was on her way to her mom’s. Police advised her to stay in for the night.

Toddler Escape

At 7:24 pm, a caller reported a toddler outside alone on the front porch of a Jackson Avenue home.

An officer found the child unharmed on the front porch and spoke to the child’s father. The man had not realized the child was outside.

The officer noted the child was in good health and advised the parents to keep a watchful eye.

Unwanted Visitor

A woman contacted police at 1 am to report her ex sent her a text claiming he was in her apartment. She was out of town and said no one was supposed to be in her apartment.

An officer checked the scene and saw no sign of forced entry or anyone inside.

A caller told officers a woman in a gray hoodie was causing a disturbance at Speedway at 2:30 am.

Police discovered an employee had stopped the woman from stealing sunglasses, and she had left the scene.
