Alva McDaniel, 75, of Minford

Alva Lee “Al” McDaniel, 75 of Newark passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, March 25, 2021. Alva was born in Minford, Ohio on February 10, 1946 to the late Alva Ancel and Elnora (Nichols) McDaniel. Alva graduated from Minford High School in 1964. He went on to obtain his Bachelor of Science degree in Electronics Engineering from the DeVry Institute of Technology in 1984 and his Master of Science degree in Administration from Central Michigan University in 1989. Alva worked as an engineer at Rockwell International. He retired from AK Steel. Alva also opened and operated several small businesses, which included Galaxy Micro Systems, and Al’s Lawnmower repair service.

Alva is survived by his wife of 53 years, Janet (Lintz) McDaniel; daughters, Susan (Steve) Wenner of Newark, Ohio, Kristi (Rob) Schneider of Madison, Ohio, Pamela (Ed) Strouse of Newark, Ohio; six grandchildren, Ashley (Brandon) Grace, Cameron Schneider, Ethan Strouse, Rylie Strouse, Jaden Valerio; Kayli Wenner; one great grandchild, Carter Grace; one great grandchild, Beckham on the way; sisters, June Marcum, Lorain McDaniel, Fay Allen, Betty Brown, Sharon (Curtis) Graley; brother, Glen (Betty) McDaniel, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alva Ancel and Elnora (Nichols) McDaniel; brothers, George, Frank, Lawrence and Donald McDaniel, and his mother and father-in-law, Kathleen and Carl Lintz.

Graveside services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, April 1, 2021 at White Gravel Cemetery in Minford with Perry McDaniel officiating. Friends may call at Erwin-Dodson-Allen Funeral Home in Minford from Noon to 2:00 p.m. Thursday prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Hospice of Central Ohio. The family extends great appreciation and special thanks to Hospice of Central Ohio for all their support.
