Man Banned From Homeless Shelter After Threats
The 8th Street Homeless Shelter banned a man after he allegedly made threats to an employee. Officers were called to the scene just before 2 am.
The manager of the shelter barred the man from the building. Officers informed him that he would be arrested if he did not leave and stay away.
Intoxicated Neighbor Annoys Poplar Street
A Poplar Street resident called police at 2:43 pm to report the man three doors down was intoxicated. The caller said he was out in the street yelling at people when they went by and was being a problem for the whole neighborhood.
When officers arrived at the scene, they determined the man was drinking on his own property. They warned him there would be consequences if they received any more calls about him.
Bike Discovered at the Park and Ride
A caller reported a bike over the guard rail at the Park and Ride. The officer said it appeared to be broken and was likely junk.
The woman who found the bike told officers she would post a picture online to see if anyone claimed it.
Adult Protective Services Rescues Woman
The Area Agency on Aging contacted PPD at 3 pm concerning the welfare of a resident of the Woodbine Apartments.
The woman has multiple medical issues and the agency had arranged for medical transport to doctors’ appointments. However, her children canceled all the appointments.
A caseworker said when she called to speak to the woman, she seemed lethargic. Adult Protective Services was dispatched to the scene and determined she needed to go to the hospital.
Officers stood by at the scene, and medics from the PFD transported her to the hospital.
Under the Influence
At 5:30 pm, officers responded to the Oasis Convenient Mart for a report of a woman overdosing inside a parked car. By the time officers arrived, she was awake but refused medical treatment. She left with a family member.
King’s Daughters Medical Center security contacted officers just before 8 pm to report a man shooting up in a vehicle in the parking lot. He left before the officers arrived.
Teen Vandals Caught in the Act
A Franklin Avenue caller caught two teenagers in the alley between Franklin and Hutchins. The caller said the boys were spray painting everything.
The kids ran off when the caller confronted them. Officers could not locate the suspects.
